Herboland

Herboland is an organic herb farm in Lamma Island and this photo was taken yesterday afternoon from its little tea house. Two young city professionals, Gary and Gavin, gave up their designer jobs and pursue their dreams by setting up Herboland in Lamma Island, a community where there is no convenience stores, supermarkets, MacDonald's or chain stores. I think this is Gavin in the background (I talked to him but forgot to ask his name), a lucky guy to be doing something he loves as a career.
Links: more about the vibrant community of Lamma Island, Herboland and a newspaper interview with Gary and Gavin.

From the near shot of the ducky, table herbs and young man to the distant trees - so much details to discover between the two groups. I especailly like the close contrast between the delicate willowy plants and the ram rod staight tree trunk. Great photo!

I think the 'battered' duck adds a very nice touch to the picture.

I think its the best to be doing something we love as career. We spend at least 1/3 of our days with work..its waste of "life" if we do something we dont want to. Its not like having a job..and then living our life. He is really lucky!:)

I wonder if its enough income to keep them financially secure ? Seems like a risky venture but with risks comes rewards! =)

did anybody notice it says on the rubber duckie "for tips or donation for...", it has a mission there :-)

I actually regret that I didn't get the whole vases and plants in frame...I made a merged photo to compensate, have a look here

Kala, I think the keyword is "enough", there can never be enough or there is always enough...I guess they already made some adjustment to that when they started.

thanks for the footprints...I'll revisit Herboland or these photos ifIevergonutsagain :-)
