Timeless is the style and artistry, but not the popularity of cheongsam. For my mom's generation, most women owned a few cheongsams for daily wear. For our generation, I don't think I know anybody having cheongsam in her wardrobe, except maybe the one for their weddings. Beautiful these cheongsams are, but not many people in the busy street of Central stop by to look at them. See yesterday's photo for close-up. Ed, it's really Maggie Cheung wearing the red one here.

ã

ã

ã
sympa tout ca j'aime bien...
ã
pretty colours, pretty picture, i quite like what you've done with discolouring half of the photo.
ã
oh i didn't realise it but yes you point it out Lisi! Its crazy that not long time ago, generation of our mothers in the 70s were still wearing a lot of cheongsams in their daily life. How come this habit has passed away so easily... I didn't think of it but indeed i haven't even ever weared cheongsam in my life yet... Hk is perhaps one of the aisan city where people don't keep taking their traditional dresses... what a shame :P
ã
Beautiful shot Lisi. Love the color and b/w. I am enjoying all your photos!
ã
I like your play on the colour and black and white. So nice!
ã
Do you have one, LIsi? I love the contrast between the colourful dresses and the everyday life in B&W. Just getting better and better, aren't you?
ã
Really excellent photo Lisi! You captured it all and very nice work with the color & B&W. Coincidence that there is a Nikon advertisement - do you use Nikon?
ã
Lisi, your timing is great in getting that lady into the picture. :-) Btw, I think only someone who is YMBS&A can wear these cheongsams properly. Olivier knows. Pas vous, Olivier?
ã
w, u got to educate me (or us?) what is YMBS&A...is it English?
ã
young modern beautiful slim & attractive :-)
ã
Lovely Lisi, the contrast between colour and B & W works really well with the lovely delicate dresses.
ã
Meg, I have an "alternative" one made with Financial Times print fabric...
Michelle, the other thing is, somehow not many people can carry cheongsam with the right look; and you are right, we can still see traditional costumes in the streets of Japan, Korea and Thailand but not in HK...
Felicia, no I don't have Nikon but a Panasonic :-)
w, did you make this up?
well...Maggie Cheung is not exactly young, is she? being modern, beautiful and slim = attractive i guess...if you are right then I would have to throw my Financial Times print cheongsam away :-(
((you made up that acronym, didn't u?))
Thanks everybody for the footprints...at first I added the sepia effect to the cheongsam but then I think the other way actually fits better with what I want to say :-)
ã
these dresses are really nice - i guess i shold say Cheongsam - but they also look expensive - as in $3300 expensive according to the tag =P
ã
Au contraire...see 6/20 hkpd post. :-) Excuse me Olivier, I meant Rudy.
ã
w...je comprends...was actually june 29th and I'm just smart to have figured that out...now that becomes YMBS&AS
ã
Lisi, Financial Times print? That made my day. And a new profile photo! Have a good weekend.
