HK taxi
Working in a hectic city makes taxi my friend, especially when I have to work late, am tired and dying to go home ASAP. There is nothing more comforting than seeing a long line of taxi lights and "For Hire" flags when I step out of the office building; you know, it's quite like seeing some knights in shining armour signalling "I'm available" to me :p. links: another shot, wiki page on HK taxi See taxis in other DP cities today: Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later. If you view after the date (also depends on the time zone) then you may probably find the theme photo in archives. Awesome! I like the black and white treatment and the repetition of the taxi signs.
ã
Nice picture, interesting perspective.
Just one question? Why Taxi signs say "Taxi" and not its translation to chinese? I read in wikipedia that your official languages are chinese and english. Is that the reason?
Greetings from Chile
ã
Great photo and perfect use of B & W.
ã
not all countries display chinese, singapore is one of them...i guess its because of the common language used in the country...
btw, do they have extra charges in HKG, when you hire the taxi late in the night or during peak hours?singapore do have these charges & hence, i seldom take taxi...LOL =D
Edulabbe and Olivier: it's actually bi-lingual in Chinese and English, as shown in this photo
ã
Nice shot lisi.
ã
Excellent shot, lisi. I love the composition and the moodiness.
ã

Good photo!
ã
er..i meant "knight"
ã
For Hire. That's the most important thing to see!
ã
great shot lisi, this one is the most atmospheric photo i have seen today.
ã
great shot! yup it is important to see the for hire sign.
ã
Fantastic choice, lisi, taking them from above in perspective.
ã
"knights in shining armour", you did I remember the song Glory of Love, Peter Cetera, and the film Karate kid.
Greetings from Perú
ã
Very nice shot, Lisi! Love the B&W. What is that small red glowing sphere-like thing in the foreground?
Wishing you non-hectic days this week!

ã
Very stylish shot. I like it and your story. The red "for hire" is a nice touch.
ã
I like the way some of your photos have been black and white with a little bit of color lately.
ã
Lavendar lady, I have sent you an email about the free Picasa software...
Kim, the red round thing is a flag/light which says "For Hire", another signal that the taxi is available in addition to the light on the roof.
Thank you all for the footprints...I should say this photo is one of my personal favorites because it is closely related to my life in HK :-)
ã
Excellent shot, Lisi, i love this photo!!
Well taxi taxi in Hk, reasonally priced and the most important: often available!! Indeed its a real comfort... as i would say that 'a long line of taxis lighting "For Hire" waiting like knights' is not always the case in many cities!
ã
Great shot Lisi. Tho, I can see why, it is funny to compare an available taxi to a knight in shining armour!
