Conversation terminator

400Do you watch TV while having dinner? Well, HK people often do; TV goes well with rice as some jokingly say. I took this photo last night with my cellphone at a self-service restaurant. I was surprised to see that they have installed some small TVs on the tables. Maybe because more people are eating alone these days? But what a pity. Wouldn't it be nice if this father and daughter could share some quality time chatting instead?

Excellent quality cellphone foto Lisi! What a shame, the last thing we need is more TVs. We have some in the grocery store at the check out and the extra noise makes me crazy!

Great photo for a cellphone! And nice b&w effect. But sad to have TV's in a restaurant. Even American fast food restaurants haven't done that yet!

Yep, yep, yep...totally agree Lisi! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time spent in front of screens these days...and not enough on pure conversation...tv was ALWAYS off when I was a kid and at the dinner table...we're quickly becoming one "unplugged" society I'm afraid! =( Nice shot tho! Like the coloration! ;-)

It's sad. Conversation terminator e a great tittle for this story and picture. It's exactly what this is about.. We can always do NOT make this at home...

If they were watching spme documentary or educational program at least. Both screens show the same channel. It could entertain if you could choose and be able to teach her something later or exchange ideas. Tech is not wrong if well administered.

HI all, thanks for the different views...it really depends on how you look at it but as far as I know, HK kids really do spend too much time on watching TV, my nephews included. ;-)

Although I agree with you completely, I we too turn the TV on at dinner time most days. I remember when the recession started in Japan in the early 90's, there was a TV programme telling kids what to talk about during dinner when Dad was home. For about 20-30 years leading to that, dads usually didn't make it home until much, much later.

I like the way every thing is grey apart from the screen and the colour from it seems to be emitting out.
