Bape store and gas lamps
Duddell Street in Central is well-known for the city's 4 surviving 130-year old gas lamps. Here is one of the oldtimers overseeing the new fad on the block, the Bape store at the other end of the short street (where the orange and blue lights are). I guess the gas lamps must have seen similar fad before, and they could be very proud that they are both lasting and priceless to HK. *Bape is a Japanese teen clothing brand and a hoody can go as high as US$2,000 on eBay. When the store opened last month, young people lined up overnight to ensure they get in asap. p.s. Yes, the lamps still run on gas, a special service provided by gas company to keep them "alive". Nice shot. Still using gas?

Thanks for your lovely comments, and I will certainly say hello to the shepherd should we meet again.
I am enjoying your photoblog. The last time was in HK was 1993, it looks like a lot has changed but I have some nice memories of my visit. So it is very interesting to see your great images.
I am posting this little notice to let people know why I may not get around too much; Where we are in deepest France we are still on dialup – no chance of broadband for a while yet - so it takes me a bit if time to get round to see what others are up to. It also means I can’t possibly even do a quick scan of what going on, so apologies if I don’t get around too often.

That's a great picture, reminds me of something from Blade Runner, all the historical periods and advertising all mixed up together...
